The twenty-six unique-state casts comprising The Ongoing Remains Part 1: The Emissaries, Keepers of our Stories result from Hazewinkel's intentionally imprecise casting process. Working with two sets of three-part moulds (taken from the same subject), he interchanges individual components of the two sets implementing a strategy of intentional misalignment. Interchanging the component parts of the two moulds enables him to produce unique hybrid moulds for each pour, which are then further individualised by being subjected to differing localised external pressures. The localised external pressure causes individual mould parts to push up and slide down against each other (like fault-lines in geological settings) creating individuating seams and revealing internal planes.

Here the intention is not to reproduce uniform copies, rather to generate unique-states which explore and exploit resulting processual anomalies.
