Andrew Hazewinkel works in expanded fields of sculptural and lens-based practice. He creates and configures objects and images that remind us that ancient pasts are alive and active in all of us. In doing so he returns again and again to the human Body.

He is interested in the contemporary social afterlife of ancient objects, stories and archetypes which he explores through a research-rich practice characterised by confident engagement with diverse methodologies and materialities. He deploys this diversity as a means of investigating Physically embodied and psychological tensions that unfold between the broken bodies of antiquity and our own soft ephemeral bodies. He strives to create works that speak directly to our bodies.
