DARKLIGHT

 2011

A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WITH ROSSLYND PIGGOTT

SUTTON GALLERY PROJECT SPACE
 MELBOURNE

Darklight was an artist led exhibition project conceived by Andrew Hazewinkel and Rosslynd Piggott initiated by their mutual engagement with specific materials and shared interests in the psychological currents running beneath reflective surfaces. The exhibition comprised existing works from each artist presented alongside a new collaborative installation Chamber (2011) created exclusively for the exhibition. Installed in a small architectural space wallpapered with finely grained black sandpaper, Chamber brought together Piggott’s 1999-2000 sculptural work Tremor with Hazewinkel's 2008 16mm film Eternal Current of light on the surface of the Tiber river, which the artist captured as a test on film stock that had expired before his birth.
